Our Plant CollectionThe Garden contains over 2,000 plant species native to the Pacific Northwest and similar climates in Asia, Europe, and the Southern Hemisphere, set in a naturalistic, wooded atmosphere. Californian natives are highly represented, and the Garden features many species from the Siskiyou Mountains of southern Oregon and northern California. There are many oaks, conifers, maples, rhododendrons, and ferns in the plant collection. The collection maintains a preference for plants in naturally occurring form, including natural hybrids and varieties, over garden hybrids and cultivars. The native flora of the Pacific Northwest is a primary theme in the Garden. We define the Northwest as the region ranging from northern California to British Columbia, and east to parts of the Northern Rockies. A lovely feature of the Garden is our collection of container gardens. Many of these were created by Mareen Kruckeberg and embody her gardening style in miniature. Our online plant list contains a partial list of the species that you can view at the Garden. Take a look! |
