Construction in the Garden: Fall 2016

We are building our pond and stream in the lower NE corner of the Garden! The construction means this area - the Native Plant Demonstration Garden - is closed to vistors at this time. The rest of the Garden remains open during normal hours, though pathways may be uneven. Thank you for your patience during construction.

Garden and Nursery Hours

Open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, closed Monday - Thursday except for prearranged tours

November - February: 10am - 3pm

The Garden will be closed the weeks of Christmas and New Years. (December 19-January 5). We will re-open Friday, January 6, 10am - 3pm.

March to October: 10 am—5 pm

Admission is FREE

Accessibility

The Garden is 4 acres in size. The top 1 acre is fully accessible by wheelchair. However, accessibility to the lower garden is limited. The path is fairly steep with compacted gravel and is approximately 5 feet wide. Although some automated wheelchairs can make it up the hill, non-automated chairs are not recommended. Please use your best judgment when determining if you can venture down into the meadow.

The only restroom on the site is currently not ADA accessible.

Driving Directions

The garden is located at 20312 15th Ave NW, Shoreline, WA 98177

  • From I-5, take Exit 176 and go west on 175th Street, across Aurora Avenue (Highway 99), until you reach the stop light at Fremont Avenue N.

  • Turn right to go north on Fremont Avenue to 185th St., then west (left) on 185th (which becomes Richmond Beach Road). You will travel through a commercial area and down a long, winding hill.

  • Turn north (right) onto 15th Avenue NW, just after the Richmond Beach Coffee Company, and the garden is about 1/2 mile up the hill, on the right.

Parking at the Garden

We now have new on-site parking! Our new parking lot has 10 parking spaces, including 1 ADA space. The new parking lot is sustainable (built with pervious paving stones!), and increases accessibility and safety for our visitors. Additional improvements include a bus dropoff area and pedestrian access paths. When visiting the Garden with large groups, we encourage you to carpool to maintain some spaces for drop-in visitors.

If the parking lot is full, you may park in the unpaved area just north of KBG on the right hand side of 15th Ave NW.

For scheduled events, especially our annual Mother’s Day plant sale, we often provide off-site parking and shuttle service to reduce the impact to the immediate neighborhood. When this service is available, please use it so that we can continue to be good neighbors.

Riding the Bus to the Garden

Two King County Metro Bus routes serve the Richmond Beach Community: the 304 and the 348. To plan your trip to KBG by bus, use the King County Metro Trip Planner

The bus will drop you off on the corner of 15th Ave NW and Richmond Beach Road. The garden is about a 10 minute walk north of the bus stop.
