The 2011 KBG Annual Meeting January 13 featured a talk by garden maven Marty Wingate on Northwest Natives at Home and Abroad. Marty's presentation sketched the colorful history of how plants from our region first reached Europe and her encounters with them in her travels.

She reflected on such topics as the contributions of Scottish botanists David Douglas and Archibald Menzies and the vagaries of plant taxonomy, often drawing chuckles from the audience.

Refreshments and door prizes were a bonus to those assembled at Shoreline City Hall. Ann Jacobus presided, her first function since her election to head the board in December.

In other business, the members elected Enid Kriewald and Eric Swenson to the KBGF board and re-elected T. Rick Leary.
