Workshops and Seminars
2012 WorkshopsLearn hands-on skills from the Kruckeberg Botanic Garden staff! The Garden offers a variety of fun and educational workshops. Most workshops are held on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30pm. Hypertufa Containers:Create a container designed to look like natural stone. These lightweight containers are fast draining and perfect for many plants. You’ll leave with a small container (approximately 12”x12”) and instructions for making more at home. We will offer our popular Hypertufa Workshop twice in 2012 - May 17 and August 16. Cutting Propagation:Learn the basics of propagating plants by cuttings. Take home a propagation tray full of your cuttings and guidelines for making more throughout the year. This workshop will be held on June 7. Sand-cast a Leaf Birdbath or Stepping Stone:Make a concrete birdbath shaped like a giant leaf, or a leaf patterned stepping stone. Complete the first steps of the project during the workshop, and take home instructions to complete the birdbath once it cures. Birdbath: July 12, Stepping Stone: September 13. Festive Holiday Wreath:Make and take home a festive holiday wreath using fresh greenery from the Kruckeberg Botanic Garden. All supplies provided. This year's Wreath Workshop is December 2. Gardening Seminars (NEW!)These free one-hour seminars cover a specific gardening project. If you choose to buy supplies at the Garden immediately following the seminar, staff will provide hands-on support for your project. Seminars are held from 1-2pm on Saturdays.
