Hello friends, last year’s director’s wish list was so successful for us, I thought I would issue a new list for the garden. There are three areas of opportunity to consider this year. As always, any consideration of support for these efforts is very much appreciated.

Item #1

Fall Bulbs ($500 would be a good start.)

Your support of this effort last year netted us some amazing spring colors in the garden. I want to add this back to the list this year, hoping that you’ll agree. The big lesson from last year, crocus are caviar for rabbits—no crocus lawn. We are going to pot up crocus and any other delectables in clay pots for display instead.

Item #2

Gravel ($660 approx. for 10 yards)

Super sexy, right? Mmmm…fresh gravel. With all the renovation work in the propagation area, we would like to continue the refinement efforts. More gravel is needed to level out and improve drainage and hygiene in the propagation area. My superior (insert inferior) calculations suggest that about 10 yards of 3/4 crushed gravel are still needed to achieve this end.

Item #3

Mulch ($570 approx. for 10 yards)

I know, I know, I saved the best for last. It’s been several years since we’ve added mulch (amendments) to the garden, and with new planting areas and old being renovated, it’s prime time to be adding some for the rainy months ahead.

How to donate to one or all of these efforts:

Go to this link: https://www.kruckeberg.org/donations/.

In the gift notes field, indicate which item you would like your contribution to go towards. As always, your support of the garden is deeply appreciated. Thank you for making it possible for us to do our work at the Kruckeberg Botanic Garden. It is an honor and a privilege to care for this legacy, this community treasure.
