If you have been to the Kruckeberg Garden in the spring, then you have hopefully noticed that we like spring bulbs and ephemeral plants. They are everywhere! This year, to kick off the MsK Nursery’s open season, we have a special bulb and ephemeral-themed weekend planned March 2-4. Join us as we celebrate these lovely spring flowers!

Starting Friday, we’ll mark down prices on select bulbs and spring ephemerals in the MsK Nursery. Bulbs and ephemerals are ideal for adding seasonal color to your landscape. Since they go dormant as summer descends, these space-efficient plants easily grow under shrubs or mingle with ‘companion plants’ like ferns and native woodland groundcovers. It is simply impossible to have too many.

On Saturday, March 3 from 1-2pm we will offer a free seminar on creating a container garden with bulbs and ephemerals. After the plants go dormant, simply put the container away until it is time to enjoy it again next spring. If you choose to select plants from the Nursery after the seminar, staff will give you hands-on help to create your container.

Then, join our tour docents on Sunday, March 4 from 1-2pm for a free mini-tour of bulbs and ephemeral plants in the Garden. Remember earlier when I said that we have a lot of them?

Registration is requested for the seminar and tour. Please let us know ( emily@kruckeberg.org or 206-546-1281) if you want to attend, or you can also register online. We hope to see you at the Garden and Nursery the first weekend of March!
