Departure. Transition. Moving on. Growth. Maturity. Gratitude.
Thinking about how to write this last Director’s note has me grasping for the right words, the best tone or emotion. Never one to be at a loss for words or expression, I’m struggling with the idea of leaving this place while simultaneously feeling excited about a new and different possibility.
Thank you to my board of directors. These past five years have been some of the most rewarding and challenging. I have benefited from your support and encouragement immensely. I want to convey my gratitude to the foundation for taking a chance on me and allowing me the opportunity to apply myself here.
Thank you to the City of Shoreline and the partners for believing in the mission of the Garden and its role in our community.
Thank you to the members who show up and make a difference, for sharing your stories and your love of this place.
To our loyal and dedicated volunteers, thank you for your friendship and time. It’s so gratifying to see your love for this place and your dedication to it.
Finally, to my co-workers and team, thank you for your camaraderie and friendship and for embracing my vision and goals.
Even though I am leaving, I am not gone. I will continue to be on the Garden Committee to keep the continuity of our work going and to keep a part of me here. I look forward to the future that is coming to the Garden. Thanks to the City of Shoreline and our residents, an ADA boardwalk is imminent.
It has been my honor and privilege to care for your Garden and be in your community, your homes, and your gardens.
My time at the Kruckeberg has come to a close. One last Director’s note, one final walk through the Garden, a quiet pause at the gate.
Sincerely,
Joe
