Oregon Grape – Mahonia nervosa
Yellow flowers stand out whatever the weather and low Oregon grape is not stingy in any light condition. Mahonia nervosa stays lower in full sun to about 18”; in shade, it grows taller and more open to double that size. It can make a wonderful stand and help stabilize slight slopes as it sends out underground runners. If you happen to be cutting through a root or stem, you’ll see that it is yellow inside as well.
