Coastal mitrewort – Mitella ovalis

Mitella ovalis is a well-behaved evergreen native groundcover. Look for light green or white flowers on erect stalks soon, followed in the summer by tiny black seeds that will allow it to slowly spread. Sometimes called Coastal Mitrewort, the word ‘mitre’ refers to the liturgical head dress of Roman Catholic bishops and abbots and some Anglican and Lutheran bishops.
