Flowering currant – Ribes sanguineum
Once you see a red-flowering currant in full bloom, you often think of finding a place in your garden for one or more. You may want more as there are various color forms available from white to light pink to red. Ribes sanguineum will do decently in dappled light but for best flower power, plant in full sun and provide adequate summer moisture until established. Average size is 6’ by 4-5’ wide. Hummingbirds visit them and may help pollinate them along with native bumblebees.
