The Garden staff has found even more plants to hoard for the Mother’s Day Sale. Every year we say we’ll save special things for the sale, only to cave in and sell a few beforehand. This year we mean it – They are only available at the sale!

We’ve now set aside the following plants:

  • Chilean fire trees: We sell Embothrium coccineum all the time, but they are so popular that we sell them all while they are only two inches tall. This year we actually have some that are slightly bigger!

  • Native shrubby oaks: No, not all oaks are big trees. Our shrub oak inventory is limited this year, so we are saving these hard-to-find Northwest natives for the sale. Though small, these evergreen oaks are iconic of the Garden and are great for rock gardens or sunny, dry growing conditions.

  • Red flowering currant: This popular native shrub is loved by hummingbirds and gardeners alike, but can be hard to find to purchase at times. We have some great plants in 1-gallon size. Some are even in flower! We’ve now set them aside for the sale.

Watch the blog next week for more great plants you’ll find at the sale, and see our Events page for more sale information. Don’t miss out!
